Crocodile Pose

Crocodile Pose Explained

Called Makarasana in Sanskrit, which means “crocodile”, this pose resembles a Crocodile during resting periods. The crocodile keeps its neck and face above the water and we assume a similar form when executing this pose.

Makarasana stretches the entire body, while it also aligns the muscles of the seat, legs, and the back of the arms and legs. Crocodile Pose in yoga is an excellent posture to reduce back stress and tension, and so improving body posture.

The primary purpose of performing Crocodile Pose is to relax the body after performing other yoga poses/sequences.

How To Perform Makarasana

Assume Table Pose.

Reach your arms out, lower your body, and lie down flat on your stomach with your legs out at slight angle from your body.  Feet point out.

Bend your elbows, making a stand for your upper body and place your palms under the chin.

Rest your chin and head onto your arms.

Lift your chest up.

Inhale and raise your seat up, then bend your right knee and aim to bring it up to your chest.  Exhale. Do the same for the left leg.

Take another breath and keep your feet anchored to the floor and your body steady.

Repeat this for 20 to 25 times.

Keep it in mind that you are safe and protected.  No injury can come to you.  Success in what matter most is happening.
