Springtime Motivation To CHANGE

Hallelujah and let’s all go with this whole change-flow thing!

This past year has seemed as though I’ve had my own personal revolution going on in my life. It’s been that dramatic and sometimes that shocking.  But, friends, I can say now, that it’s all for the better.

It’s not about the weather.

Not at all.  Especially this year. Right now some areas of the USA are getting snow, while here in South Florida, we are about to see a jump in temperatures that will make it feel like Summer.  So regardless of what you see when you look out the window, Springtime traditionally calls for cleaning out what you no longer need, refreshing your home, your wardrobe and your work with new ideas, or totally scrapping what does not work for you and going down a whole different road.  In my case, I’ve chosen that last option.

But, for me change hasn’t just been happening in 2018, it all began in the Spring of 2017.

Turning 60.

Geez, all of you out there who have the idea that there is an expiration date on anything we humans value, please get your act together and get real!

I hit human mile marker 60 in April of 2017 and all I can say is that it’s had a very, very positive impact.  In fact, on the day of my birthday last year, I told my husband that 60 was the start of (what would be) the best decade in my life, and all I can say is that it’s proving to be just that.

I got brave and stuck my face.

I had tried Botox and Radiesse in 2016, disliked both rather intensely, and swore I’d never go back.  But, still, I heard such great feedback both in-person and in the media about injectables and how beautiful the results can be, that it pushed me to go ahead and give them another shot, so to speak, in June of 2017, just 2 months after turning 60.

Perhaps it was the right time, or that my prediction about the 60s decade of my life being the best was coming true, but my results this time are wonderful and I have joined the ranks of the women and men who say that injectables are really the way to go for cosmetic rejuvenation of the face.  The right type and the right doctor/nurse/esthetician performing the services makes all the difference!

And it takes much more than time and money to go about this whole process – it takes guts.  If you opt to use these services yourself, expect to see bruising, swelling and redness on your face, and getting plenty of cold stares and/or snickering from others in public.  That can even include your own circle of friends and family, even if they aren’t intentionally being mean, it still can be upsetting.

But, take heart, while seeing optimal results from injectables takes months or even a full year for some, you can reach your goals, and the black and blue marks, puffy cheeks or eyelids, and irritation, does heal, leaving you with results that can be absolutely spectacular.  I love what I see in the mirror so much more, as it reflects the energy and great health I have  – and that’s the main point of it all!

My personal life.

For the past 12 or 14 years, I’ve been going after what I call “Life Part II” or more simply put – “Life After Raising Kids”,  and I’ve been back to school, founded an online magazine, blogged like crazy, written and published 7 ebooks, and, if that weren’t enough, I’ve pursued acting and modeling, landing 2 roles in TV productions in 2016.  And believe it or not, I used to walk around feeling like I hadn’t done enough or accomplished anything of real value.  Here again is where turning 60 has made changes for me.  Not accomplished anything?  Ha!  I’ve been a walking production machine is what I’ve been!

Adding to my work efforts, I am now starting a beekeeping business with my husband, Roger, and, I’ll be brewing up cosmetics and candles at home, using our own honey, beeswax, bee pollen, propolis and royal jelly.   Also, I’m growing my own herbs, so I’ll be making my own essential oils and infusing my products with those oils.  I’m very excited about this and feel great that I’ll be working with my husband and hopefully my daughter in the future.  My goal is to have my own line of high quality skin care and beauty products, and a line of beeswax candles of different varieties.  That will become a reality this year, probably sometime this Fall, and I’ll begin setting up tables at Farmer’s Markets, Health Fairs and other events, including here online, selling my products and educating the public about how bees are an enormous part of what makes our planet Earth stay alive and well.

On a more personal note, I have been literally doing a lot more these past few years.  My husband and I have a motor scooter that we love for use here on Hutchinson Island, a custom Kawaski Vulcan motorcycle we also love and have taken down to the Florida Keys, we’ve discovered the joy of playing billiards and own our own table since last Fall, we put in horseshoe pits in our backyard, and, that’s just the beginning. We want to go, do, and have fun so much more now than when we were parents of a young family and their needs came first.

I’m sure I left out some things, and there’s a lot more to say about how changes came about and how I reacted at first, but I’ll save all of that for future blog posts.

I’m still planning to begin my talk show on YouTube.  It’s just taking me a bit longer than anticipated, given our new beekeeping business.  But, I’ll get into a regular routine with it and then it will flow just like……honey?.…..yes absolutely, honey!

Take care,

  1. So happy for you! I’m intrigued about the reasons you haven’t talked about yet. Fantastic idea to make cosmetics and candles. Two huge demand markets. Everyone wants what’s new and different. You’ll do very well!!
