Love How I Look – And THANK YOU Oprah Winfrey

Daytime television.

No, I never got into it at all.  I’ve seen about five minutes of Dr. Phil, a handful of episodes of Dr. Oz, maybe a dozen or so Ellen shows and perhaps three or four Oprah shows.  Hardly a daytime tv addict LOL.

But, earlier this year I read that Oprah Winfrey said that when we turn 60 we stop apologizing to anyone.  Ladies and gentlemen, that hit home with me big time!

Yes. Looks matter.

Sure they do.  Why else would the beauty industry at large bring in billions of dollars every single year?  And that doesn’t include the fitness and diet industry that also hauls in a similar amount.  And, as a third point, neither one of then includes the fashion industry!  Yipes, the grand total would be absolutely staggering!

But I have come to another conclusion of late.  Looks matter?  Yes.  I believe that they do.  However it’s how they matter that makes all the difference.  Let me explain.

Love how I look.

Every woman on the planet should be saying exactly the same thing.  We need to love ourselves.  Our faces, the hair that does have its bad days God knows, the body we point at in the mirror and say “well, that needs to be…..what?..…smaller, bigger, firmer, longer, shorter”.  Yup.  We need to love every single cell we own . And that’s billions.

There’s nothing wrong with making changes, doing what you like to yourself, changing your style, any or all of it.  It should be fun, and sometimes even educational (getting injectables has been a big learning experience for me), and most of all, we should do it for ourselves and not to please others or to keep up with someone else.  When we let go of what the rest of our world says or thinks, and very nicely and politely stand our ground, that’s when looks really matter most.  Because the most beautiful thing we can ever be is true to ourselves.  I believe God made us to do just that.  At least, that’s what how my God works.

Oprah really is very cool.

Are you kidding?  I love her!  Just because I never got into the daytime television habit, that doesn’t mean I don’t like any of the shows – I simply never took the time or had the time to watch them.

So, when I say “thank you” to Oprah it comes from the heart.  We women beat the hell out of ourselves over so many things, but looks rank up there really high.  And the bonus is that it doesn’t end when we are happy with our appearance –  it extends to so many other things.  A woman can feel a sense of freedom (from aforementioned beating up) and go on to do some pretty amazing things.

That’s my take on looks.  Now and forever.

Have an incredible day!

Me, taken on my 61st birthday.  I’m laughing at the number.  You bet I am!

  1. He-he. Yup I heard that Oprah made that statement and it’s worth cheering about! Men are said to be distinguished as they age and if they hook up with a 21 year old it’s fine and dandy. But women? We are supposed to go in a corner or something according to the jerks. Love your work, Nancy! And you look beautiful, healthy and could be a poster woman for anti aging methods. Love you!!

    1. Thank you! Have used filler beneath the eyes and in the cheeks. Last time was December 2017. I most recently am using retinol and I highly recommend it. Drugstore brands are great, you don’t have to spend a lot!
