Fresh Margaritas

How To Make Fresh Margaritas

Cool, refreshing and delicious, margaritas bring home the taste of Summer any time of the year we make them.

This recipe is for one margarita, so multiply it out if you’re making enough for a crowd or a whole pitcher full.

What you’ll need

Cocktail shaker

Paring knife/cutting board

About half of a lime

1 1/2 oz. silver tequila, such as Patron

1 oz. triple sec (or another orange-based liqueur)

Simple Syrup, or prepared Crystal Light lemonade if you want to keep the calories down. Chill either one ahead of time for the best results.

Margarita glass

Measuring jigger

Rim salt or sugar

Cut fruit or peppers for garnish

Optional – You can add pureed fruit to your mix , such as mango, grapefruit, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.

How-To per glass

It’s easy to add fruit for Margarita variations.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Cut a small slice from the half lime and set it aside. Take the larger part and squeeze as much of the juice as you can into the cocktail shaker.

Add an ounce of the chilled simple syrup to the shaker.

Add 1 1/2 ounce of silver tequila and 1 ounce of the triple sec

Shake until cold (usually 15 seconds is enough).

Preparing the Margarita glass

Take the small slice of lime you set aside earlier and make a small cut from the edge to the center. The slice should fit on the edge of the glass so the center of the lime is at the glass’s rim.

Rub the lime around the rim of the glass, squeezing slightly. The whole rim of the glass should be lightly covered in lime juice.

If you’re using salt or sugar

Sprinkle salt or sugar onto a plate. Roll the glass in the salt (sugar) shaking away any excess. The rim of the glass should end up lightly coated with salt.

If you want to make a pitcher

Simply times this recipe by the number of glasses your pitcher holds.

Pour the Margarita into the glass and enjoy!

Simple methods.
Spectacular results.
